Again, on the County Board, we had a request from a resident to operate a gun shop. Most Democrats were against the idea, but since the request didn't violate any existing ordinances, I voted in favor of the request.

I'm not an incumbent, but my responsibility is the 67th district. Thus, if I feel that significant issues hurt my district, then I must do what's best for my district. If that means that I'm worked against in the next election cycle, at least I will maintain my integrity.

I voted against my county board on a zoning change that would have effectively kicked a business out of its location. The business owner wanted to move to another county, so I worked with him personally to find an adequate and legal spot in our county.

My experience as a prosecutor affords me a unique perspective on many issues that come up in the General Assembly. One of those measures is to ensure is to keep our streets safer by continuing the ban on silencers for firearms.

During the Quinn Administration, I voted against the tax increase that was Sponsored and pushed extremely hard by Party Leaders. I did not vote for it because I felt that the economy was weak and no attempt was being made to streamline government or reduce costs. As a result of my refusal to support the legislation and vote along party lines, I was stripped of the Chairmanship of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee Chair is one of the best assignments in the Senate

I, David A. Zulkey, am not an incumbent. Please VOTE for David A. Zulkey.

There have been many times over my career in the Senate where I did not agree with my party on a certain issue. However, I took an oath to uphold the wishes of my constituents and work for them to support the issues they care about. I am proud of the votes I have taken to support my district and my party, as well as the times I have worked across the aisle to support the priorities of the Republican party that align with the needs of my district.

I voted against Speaker Madigan's first major budget proposal during the impasse. It was badly out of balance, not serious, and designed for political purposes. I told him that, and I voted against it, bucking most of my party. I got plenty of heat for it, but I was unwilling to compromise my principles for the sake of politics.

In 2011, I voted against Speaker Madigan's pension reform proposal. At that time, I believed that this proposal was unconstitutional, and I believed that it was wrong to diminish promised pension benefits without including the employees in the negotiations. I also voted against the Scholarship tax credit.

As a Glen Ellyn Park Board Commissioner I worked with fellow commissioners who were Democrats to balance our budgets, create surpluses, and reduce the tax levy. All while improving services.
