What help, if any, are you receiving from your party and its leaders, including staff help, advice, legal assistance, money and resources? Be specific.

General

I have received nothing from the Republican Party of Illinois.

I'm the outsider in this race and the best thing about not being the local establishment pick, nor having my campaign funded by IOP or HRO or the Governor, is that the messaging is all mine. No one is telling me what to do or what to say or how to say it. If you've seen it and think my messaging is creative and strong, I hope it will give you an indication of my intuition, leadership and independence. If you think its weak, you only have me to blame. The one assistance that I have received is guidance submitting my petitions and an open line with the state party's Northern regional contact if I have a question.

My campaign for State Representative is a grassroots campaign focused on meeting and talking to as many voters as possible, particularly while going door to door. I'm supported by voters across the political spectrum, and I look forward to representing my entire community in Springfield, not party leaders.

Last cycle, I ran as an independent voice for taxpayers. I was not beholden to Bruce Rauner or Michael Madigan. I refuse to blindly endorse the policy decisions of political leaders, even if they are of my same party. As a result, Bruce Rauner and the ILGOP have not funded my campaign. I am proud to say I am the only candidate that is being challenged by both Michael Madigan and Bruce Rauner. I am thankful for the freedom to do what is right for the taxpayers of Illinois, not the political ruling class. Unlike my opponents, I am an independent voice for change, while they are more of the same.

I have received no funding aid to date. I received help with having petitions signed from the local democratic organization. This accounted for approximately one third of the signatures collected.

So far, I've gotten a little help with the petition filing phase of the campaign. The state party provided a petition form (from which I had copies made), and they looked over the final petition packet to check for any obvious errors. They also gave me the addresses of the Secretary of State's office and Board of Elections in Springfield, so I could file all the paperwork. I suppose there may be other assistance down the road, but no mention has been made of that at this point.

None. I met once with a Democratic party official in Springfield like all candidates for this office did.

None. I've paid for Votebuilder from the Democratic Party. I have an advisor who advises via text message when needed who works for a gubernatorial candidate. Right now, in this primary, I'm working hard on my own merit.

None as of yet.

I am not receiving any support or resources from the Republican Party of Illinois.

Not only am I not receiving any help from the Republican Party, they are helping spread the lies from my opponent's campaign team about me and our village. The Illinois Republican Party is supporting my opponent, a ten term legislator who has to accept some responsibility for Illinois' decline over the last 20 years that he's been in office. My support comes from the community within the district, including those who elected me twice as Mayor, and grass roots organizations dedicated to conservative principles, economic growth and/or Republican platform values.

None. My campaign has paid for everything and the party has had no role in our race.

I am not receiving help from the Illinois Republican Party

None. The state party is not involved in any primary election unless it involves an incumbent.

I am receiving support from the Governor, state party, legislative colleagues, local elected officials, and many citizens in the Western suburbs.

I have the support of many elected officials in and around the 89th District and I am raising funds for my campaign on my own. I would welcome any additional help.

My campaign will strictly be funded by me and individuals.

My campaign is powered by local voters and the grassroots. Our campaign transcends political labels. We are focused on empowering Illinois taxpayers and families and stopping Madigan's corrupt Chicago machine.

The Democratic Party has not offered any assistance to me.

As the late Abner Mikva once said, "I am nobody, nobody sent." I'm not running to be anyone's anointed candidate, and I'm certainly not looking to receive the endorsement of a group of Springfield insiders. That is why I am proud to say that the party support I have received has come from local Republican Township organizations, precinct committeemen, and volunteers from every corner of the 59th district. This support is a testament to the time our campaign has committed to relationship building and to attending meetings all across the district.

At this time, our campaign's efforts are being carried out through grassroots activism. I look forward to working with several individuals involved locally and statewide with the Republican party and organizations alike.

I am receiving no support from the Republican party. I have contacted all of the county chairman to ask for their support, to date I have not received any help from the ILGOP or been in contact with any of the party members.

At this time, I am not receiving any help from my Party leadership except for myself and local precinct committeemen.

I am an independent Democrat. I am not receiving any funding or support from the state party apparatus. I would evaluate any endorsement or support by elected officials on a case by case basis.

Because I am in a contested primary, the only support I am receiving from the party is technical advice (about petitions, filing, etc.), which is also shared with my competitor.

To date, I have received no assistance from party leaders.

I, David A. Zulkey, have not received any help from the democratic party or its leaders.

If you are an incumbent, give an example of a time you worked across the aisle on an important issue.

I, David A. Zulkey, am not an incumbent. Please VOTE for David A. Zulkey.

If you are an incumbent, give at least one example of a time you did not vote with your party on a significant issue.

I, David A. Zulkey, am not an incumbent. Please VOTE for David A. Zulkey.

I am not getting help from the Democratic party or its leaders.

I am not receiving any help from the Democratic party or the leadership. I am qualified to serve not by my connections to powerful people or special interests, but by my long history of civic engagement. I am the only viable candidate in this race who is truly independent of party leadership and any interest group.

None at this time. I run my own office, pay my staff and do my own fundraising, independent of my party's leadership.

I received some assistance from the state senate Democratic office in preparing my petitions when I filed to be on the ballot.

Specifically, none.

This is a primary, so leadership isn't involved.

I have a long professional relationship with Senate President John Cullerton and I am grateful for that. I am receiving the same help and financial support other caucus members receive, but ultimately I am responsible for the decision making on my own campaign and I will rely on my constituents and the issues in my community to drive this campaign.

I am receiving no help. I will never ask for help. I will run my own campaign and spend my own money. I do this as I stand by what I said before. I will represent the people. By taking money you become obligated to a political party. The only people I will answer to are the people of the 57th district.

My candidacy has been supported by a number of current and former local elected officials. The Senate GOP does not historically participate in primary elections and that is the case in this race.

None. No financial assistance. I have been able to get moral support and advice, but only if I ask for it.

Absolutely none! How is that for specific? Since I am not only not an incumbent, but I am possibly going to be the only person challenging an incumbent for state senate this year (out of 39 elections) in a primary, I was slightly amused by this question. There are very good reasons that almost no one challenges an incumbent as their advantages are so very substantial. To name but a few:

The huge amounts of money contributed to them by the party or their PAC's such as the Democratic Senate Victory Fund (the last time my opponent was challenged (ten years ago) they gave her $500,000 and that was back when that was real money!;
The unspoken code in the legislature that none of them are to support a challenger to an incumbent;
that the election is in the middle of the winter thereby making it very hard for candidates to meet as many people as they would like to mount a grassroots campaign; and
This is one of my favorites — A challenger to an incumbent is not allowed to purchase the best voting lists that are provided by the Democratic Party until they first request it and get turned down for free access. You have to wait thirty days before you receive a letter informing you that there is an incumbent so you have to buy them on your own. While you and the party both know that they are not going to give them to you, you are not allowed to buy them for this thirty day period thereby slowing down your efforts. But I want to make it really clear that I am not complaining (except about the winter). Nothing good in life comes easy!

I am the only candidate in this race who has not accepted help from a committeeman or alderman. I am running with the support of my neighbors, friends, and colleagues — not the political machines. This allows me to run as an independent Democrat, who will answer only to the voters.

None. I have no financial or in-kind assistance from the Democratic Party or party leaders.

I am not bought, and I am not beholden. I answer to my future constituents. I have support from progressives and community leaders who are eager to have an elected official who has overcome challenges in her own life and has spent her entire career ensuring every other resident can also build a life. I have not received any support from the party.

I am endorsed by: Congressman Danny Davis, Cook County Commissioners: President Toni Preckwinkle, Bridget Gainer, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, and Larry Rogers, State Senator Kwame Raoul, State Representatives: Sarah Feigenholtz, Will Davis and Art Turner, Aldermen: Pat Dowell, Michelle Harris, Tom Tunney, Brian Hopkins and Committeeman Tim Egan.

Be specific. I am currently not being supported by the party.

Getting no party help Limited staff only volunteers at this And self-funded currently Last year I ran on $600 I ran as an independent I got 7259 votes

My opponent challenged my petition signatures, and the party provided legal assistance and staff time to help verify signatures. At the time of this writing, that's all the help I've gotten from my party.

I am an independent Democrat. I am not receiving any funding or support from the state party apparatus. I would evaluate any endorsement or support by elected officials on a case by case basis.

None.

I have not received any help from mainstream Democratic party leaders.

None to date. This campaign is about my doing the hard work and knocking on doors to meet and hear from residents of the district.

I am not receiving any help.

I have not received any help from my party and its leaders.

The party leaders are waiting to see who ends up on the ballot but I have had meetings with representatives of the Democratic party.

I have been meeting with House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie.

I have received the endorsement of my Alderwoman, Leslie Hairston, who is also the 5th Ward Democratic Committeeperson.

I am receiving no help from a political party on my campaign. I am not receiving staff help, advice, legal assistance, money or other resources from the party.

I am not receiving any help or money from the party or its leaders except for the following. Democratic Committeemen in Evanston, New Trier, and Northfield townships have had open meetings allowing me, along with the other candidates in my race, to meet with and address Democrats attending the party events. Rep. Lou Lang made himself available for advice early in the campaign.

I will be seeking and accepting assistance from all Democratic organizations, as a Democratic nominee for State Representative.

I am not the Machine supported candidate. I do not have any of those resources. I have the backing of our community and have worked hard for every dollar we have raised. I am proud of the close to $90k we have raised from over 500 donors. I am a small business owner. My campaign is like any other small business and it needs resources to thrive. I am employing 7 people currently and am working hard to pay their wages, afford mailers, materials, etc. The 17th District needs an independent voice and I am excited to be that voice.

I am not seeking any advice, help, legal assistance, nor money from the corrupt Illinois Democratic Party nor from the corrupt Cook County Democratic Party. They are headed and staffed by Democrats in name only. They don't care about anything other than destroying democracy and enriching themselves at taxpayer's expense. The United States has overthrown dictators in the developing world who are more progressive than Mike Madigan and Joe Berrios.

I am receiving no help or resources from the Democratic party at the state level or its leadership. I am seeking endorsements from the local democratic parties as are my opponents but this process has not yet happened.

I am not a career politician, I am not from a family of career politicians, I am not a property tax attorney and I am not a yes man. So I am not receiving any help whatsoever from my party. Maybe the voters should seek out and vote for all the candidates who are not supported by the party.

My campaign is fueled by local voters across party lines who are fed up with business as usual in Springfield. I'm proud to be supported by local Republicans, Independents, and Democrats who don't focus on party labels and are passionate about turning our state around.

We are supported by many of the Republican township chairmen, the precinct committeemen and grass roots efforts from local residents.

I am running my campaign and am working a grass roots effort to gain support across the 42nd district. I have received the support of the DuPage County Republican Chairmen and the nine Republican Township Chairmen. I seek and receive their advice daily.

No response provided.

I am and have been a GOP Committeewomen in Milton Township for many years. I have many strong friends and relationships there and some wonderful colleagues in the organization supporting me. Within the township are a number of very experience people who have offered advice and volunteered to help me distribute my material, acquire signatures, etc. The House Republican Organization did assist me in filing my petitions, offered encouragement and acted as a good reference for me as I've been raising funds.

I've received a great amount of encouragement and personal support from many members of the Republican Party. This includes local organizations, the county parties, Young Republicans groups within the district, and other elected Republican officials. I have learned a great deal in a relatively short period of time and deeply appreciate the mentorship and inspiration that these people and groups have provided. As my campaign motto states, we are #BetterTogether, as a state, as an American people, and as a united Republican Party.

Other than access to the voter database, none.

I am receiving no help from my party.

None. I was interviewed by a Democratic Party staff member and we were getting to know each other. I called into a radio show and said I wouldn't vote for Mike Madigan. The party official asked me about it and I told him that I essentially thought Mike Madigan has been in his position too long, and the phone was hung up on me and I haven't heard from him again.

I am currently not receiving any help from the Illinois Democratic Party. Previously, IDP vetted my petitions.

I am receiving no help from my party.

I am not receiving any help from the State Democratic Party. I am a member of the Democratic Party of DuPage County and the Addison Township Democratic Organization (ATDO). I serve as a precinct committeeman in those organizations. I received the endorsement of ATDO, but have not received any formal help beyond that endorsement from those party groups. It is unclear whether there will be any resources available from these local Democratic parties if I win the primary.
