The city must lead by example by reducing energy consumption and increasing energy efficiency. We must help homeowners match our commitment to energy efficiency and a reduced carbon footprint by providing incentives and connecting them with resources to lower energy usage. Businesses that receive contracts and subsidies from the city should share our values, and be held by city policy to commit to reducing their environmental footprints. Our building code should reflect this commitment to energy efficiency for homes, public buildings and commercial developments.

I will explore other incentives for solar heating and other alternative forms of energy. Further expand both our public transit options and bicycling pathways to help our citizens become less reliant on cars.
