What subjects have you studied and what experience have you had which will be most helpful to you in the office you seek?

General

Master of Urban Planning from UIC

The two experiences that will be most helpful to my work as mayor are my time as a civil rights attorney and time on city council.

My civil rights work has helped me understand the world better. Being born and raised on the South Side, I already had an appreciation for the parts of this city that are too often ignored. But working as a civil rights attorney gave me a better picture of how the world works, and often times does not work.

Being the Alderman for the 2nd Ward has thickened my skin and readied me for battles ahead. As someone that will always ask the tough questions, and always demand the best for our communities, I know what it means to fight a battle.
